Exclusive: Welcome Tywan Claxton, Newest Member Of Team Gladiator
Bellator Featherweight Tywan Claxton, aka Air Claxton, is officially a Team Gladiator Athlete! With only five Bellator fights under his belt — 5-0, with 4 TKO/KOs — Claxton has quickly become a top prospect in the top-ranked organization’s Featherweight Division. Unbeaten in his amateur career (8-0), he burst onto the professional MMA scene with an amazing first round KO via flying knee in his initial Bellator fight.
And thus ‘Air Claxton’ was born.
“I am honored to have Tywan as a member of Team Gladiator,” said Bobbie Quinn, Co-founder of Gladiator Custom Mouthguards. “He’s an amazing athlete, with a style like no other. It has been a true pleasure to watch him grow from a university athlete to the pro he is today.”
Prior to taking up MMA, Claxton was a high school and collegiate wrestler. His college career began at King University in Tennessee, where he received All-American honors as a freshman, and finished at Ohio University as a two-time national qualifier.
Ohio University was also where Tywan was introduced to Gladiator, as the Bobcat’s wrestling team and the school’s other student-athletes work with the industry leader in custom mouthguards for their protection. Claxton’s first Gladiator as a MMA professional featured his alma mater’s green and white color scheme.
Most recently, Claxton has helped to design his Pro with Power Grip upgrade custom mouthguards for his Bellator matches, incorporating his Air Claxton logo — a silhouette of his infamous flying knee — with binary code. As Claxton explains, “when I’m not punching people in the face, I’m spending my time coding and designing mobile applications. It’s been a hobby for the last three years and it would be cool to mash together Air Claxton and binary code.”
“Everything about Claxton’s style and brand aligns perfectly with Gladiator and makes him an obvious Team Gladiator Athlete,” said Quinn.
Air Claxton has a chance to fast track his career at Bellator 226, where he will take part in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix in September. There he will face a tough test in the first round of the tournament, when he takes on Emmanuel Sanchez (18-4).
Keep an eye out for Claxton’s Grand Prix custom mouthguard, and welcome to the newest Gladiator Athlete!
With style, personality and confidence, Tywan Claxton truly embodies what it means to be a Team Gladiator Athlete. Welcome to the Team Gladiator Family.
