Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward Announced By ECAC Hockey

ECAC Hockey has announced the Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward Award for the 2016-2017 season. The annually given award is selected by the league’s 12 head coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.

Gladiator has been a proud sponsor of ECAC Hockey since 2010 and annually presents the Best Defensive Forward Award.

This year’s winner, Jake Weidner, helped Cornell earn a top ten ranking for much of the 2016-17 campaign. The senior from Grand Valley, Ont. registered 53 blocks on the season, while winning the second most face-offs with 318 wins in league-play. His 2.14 blocks per game were nearly double that of his next counterpart, as only three others players recorded half that number.

He began playing for various clubs at a young age and continued onto junior teams, while also playing lacrosse at the collegiate level.
