Danny Garcia Set To Fight WBA Middleweight Champ Erislandy Lara
For the first time in two years — and the first time ever at 160 pounds — Danny Garcia is going to fight.
The former unified 140-pound champion and 147-pound titleholder Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs) will finally take on Erislandy Lara (30-3-3, 18 KOs) on September 14 in Las Vegas. Originally scheduled for August 2023, where the two were to square off at 155 pounds, the fight is the co-feature of the Canelo Alvarez-Edgar Berlanga Premier Boxing Championships card.
As Lara looks to defend his WBA Middleweight title, Garcia is aiming to make history by becoming a three-division world champ.
Garcia, a Team Gladiator Athlete, has been proudly protected by Gladiator custom mouthguards since the company’s inception in 2001. At the time, Garcia was a 12-year-old being trained by his father, former boxer Angel Garcia, and he went on to become the first Latino world champion from Philadelphia (our hometown!).
As he has throughout his career, Garcia will be wearing his Gladiator Pro with Power Grip upgrade custom mouthguard with his standard red, white, and blue color scheme. The design also features his DSG logo and his daughter’s name: Philly.
